Continuing Education Requirements for licensed Residential Builders

The State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors has adopted rules for continuing education for residential builders in Georgia.

How many hours of continuing education are required?

Beginning with the 2012 renewal cycle, an applicant for renewal of a residential license must have completed three (3) hours of continuing education each year for a Residential Basic license and six (6) hours  of continuing education each year for a Residential Light Commercial license.

How can that be accomplished?

The Gainesville/Hall County Home Builders Association is setting up educational programs to be delivered during the lunch hour of the General Membership meetings starting in January 2011. General Membership meetings occur on the first Thursday of each month.  Each educational programs will take 30 to 40 minutes of that lunch hour.  In return, each licensed builder attendee will receive 1/2 hour of continuing education credit toward their licensing requirements.

As a licensed residential builder your can attend six (6) General Membership meeting each year during lunch and satisfy your educational requirements for Residential Basic Licensing.  Or attend all General Membership meetings and satisfy your educational requirements for Residential Light Commercial licensing requirements.

How can I take advantage of this educational opportunity as a builder?

The Gainesville/Hall County Home Builders Association would like to invite you to become a member and take advantage of this opportunity to easily satisfy your educational licensing requirements and join an organization promoting the construction industry.  There are other numerous advantages to being a member which cannot all be listed here.
